Wow! I finally put up the facebook page for this blog and I'm so happy how many people actually want to see these! I hope to not disappoint. >w<
It's actually a funny story how I found Sailor Moon. My older brother's friend, Ryan, would often come over to play video games. But as soon as it was 1 o' clock, we HAD to stop and watch Sailor Moon. He claimed it had a great plot and voice acting. My brother usually chose this time to eat lunch and ignore Ryan drooling over them.
On behalf of the moon, I will right wrongs and triumph over evil! |
Pretty girls in pretty outfits using pretty magic? Millions of sparkles and roses in each episode? Actual fighting from a team exclusively of girls? I was sold. Although Sailor Moon isn't my favorite of the Sailor Scouts, she sure is the most fun to make.
Too cute! She looks so demure. |
I loved making those corkscrew curls at the ends of her pigtails. I used a scallop stitch you use on the edge of baby blankets for her bangs. I hand painted the eyes and made her jewels with the tiniest crochet hook I had (D) and some embroidery thread. I cut the eyelashes out of felt and put them between the safety eyes and the head to add some girlish charm. And the bows I used on the baby shoes last time have made a reappearance. Seriously, they are so easy and cute I put them EVERYWHERE.
This is my fight pose, why are you shooting from behind?! |
She also has a crown, but Garth said it looked like she had an angry unibrow...and now I can't unsee it.
Time for my closeup! |
Seriously, I love how she turned out. When it comes to Sailor Moon, everything has to be over the top! Big hair, big head, big feet--it just makes her look so cuddly and cute! I made her with my own make-up-as-you-go pattern, but throw those curls on any doll pattern and you'll soon have your own Sailor Scout. Or is there any interest in an actual pattern?
This gal is going to be a present for my friend--who I wish would let me post photos of her in her Sailor Moon outfit on here-- hope she likes it! >w<
