Big and Little Sproutie Pattern


Sprouties Pattern
This pattern is written, created, published, and illustrated by The Craftzilla. Please do not sell, copy or separately redistribute this pattern or any parts therein (share the blog page link instead!) Selling finished products is fine. 

Materials
E 3.5 hook
Cream (or base color) yarn
Pink (or stripe color) yarn
Green (or leaf color) yarn
Brown (or eye color) yarn
Yarn needle
Polyfill / Stuffing

Abbreviations
Mc – Magic circle
Sc – Single crochet
Sl st
 – Slip stitch
Hdc – Half double crochet
Dc – Double crochet
Inc – Increase, place two sc in one stitch
Dec
 – Decrease, I use invisible dec, but essentially make one sc over two stitches
Hdc dec- same as decrease but one hdc over two stitches
*---* signals a set of stitches to be repeated
(_) indicates how many stitches should be in that round

Small Sproutie Pattern
Body
Worked in a spiral
Start in base color/cream
Round 1) 6 sc in mc (6)
R2) Inc every stitch (12)
R3) *Sc, inc* x 6 (18)
R4) *Sc, sc, inc* x 6 (24)
Switch to stripe color/pink
R5) Sc around (24)
Switch back to base color/cream
R6-7) Sc around (24)
Switch to stripe color/pink
R8) Sc around (24)
Switch back to base color/cream
R9) *Sc, sc, dec* (18)
R10) *Sc, dec* (12)
Switch to stripe color/pink
R11) HDC dec every stitch (6)
Fasten off, weave the tail in and close up the body. Should be a stripey sphere.

 

Legs
Make two
Worked in a spiral
Use base color/cream
Round 1) 6 sc in mc (6)
R2) Sc around (6)
R3) Inc, sc, sc, STOP fasten off leave long tail

Sew each leg to the cream side (bottom) of the body, just a bit apart. I make the color change the back of the body and sew the legs on thusly.

Leaves
Make two
In leaf color/green
1) Chain 9
2) Sc, sc, hdc, dc, dc, hdc, sc, sc, turn, sc, sc, hdc, dc, dc, hdc, sc, sc.
If you want your plants to have long, stalk-like leaves, stop here.
3) Ch 1, sc, sc, hdc, dc inc, dc inc, hdc, sc, sc, turn, sc, sc, hdc, dc inc, dc inc, hdc, sc, sc.
Fasten off. Sew leaves to the top of the plant where we used pink/stripe color
 

 

Using brown or eye color yarn, add eyes. I just did simple line eyes over one stitch in my middle cream/base color section.

Using 3.75 F hook

Body
Worked in a spiral
Start in base color/cream
Round 1) 6 sc in mc (6)
R2) Inc every stitch (12)
R3) *Sc, inc* x 6 (18)
R4) *Sc, sc, inc* x 6 (24)
R5) *Sc, sc, sc, inc* x 6 (30)
Switch to stripe color/pink
R6-7) Sc around (30)
Switch back to base color/cream
R8-10) Sc around (30)
Switch to stripe color/pink
R11) Sc around (30)
R12) *Sc, sc, sc, dec* x 6 (24)
Switch back to base color/cream
R13) *Sc, sc, dec* (18)
R14) *Sc, dec* (12)
Switch to stripe color/pink
R15) HDC dec every stitch (6)

Fasten off leaving a tail of yarn. Sew leaves to the top of the plant where we used pink/stripe color
